Disclaimer: I’m a huge Ritu Dalmia fangirl.
Unfortunately every time I get the chance to meet her I turn into a hysterical, giggling, blithering idiot. The menu at Diva Spiced reminds of RD’s cookbook, the Travelling Diva, a romp across cuisines and continents. The menu, like the book, sometimes seems unlikely but, in both, each recipe works. Some better than others but all delicious.
Diva Spiced moved in when Chez Nini moved on. The skeleton remains the same, as does the pastry case lining and the floor to length windows. The metallic tree is gone though and with it, some amount of flash.
It’s a great spot for a working lunch – bright, upbeat and without drama.
I’d categorize the food as ‘traditional Asian fusion’, with some great healthy options. The Thai Red Curry is served with barley rice, an odd combination that comes together unexpectedly well. As is the Papaya and Lychee Curry. Balancing this out is their Salted Caramel Tart which the management at Diva Spiced admitted themselves must be over 3,000 calories. Food for both sinners and saints.
A bustling cafe with solid food in a fun neighborhood.
