RESTAURANT REVIEW: BOHEMIA, GK 1 – N BLOCK

For a cheerful lunch in GK-1, N Block

Cheerful, bright and serving up unexpectedly good food, this is a fun new find.

LOOKS LIKE

I imagine setting up Bohemia must have been easy considering GK I, N Block has more home decor and furniture stores than parking. The space is a sparkling white punctuated with chirps of fuschia and aquamarine. A fantastic spot for a chatty lunch or cocktail.

TASTES LIKE

I encountered n surprisingly good Tapas Tasting Plate (Meat), the lamb kebabs were soft and deeply seasoned, the chicken wings cooked to perfection and evenly doused in sauce. The accompanying Tzatziki and Babaganoush  zinged with flavor. The Insalata Caprese (sliced tomato, fresh basil, kalamata olive cheeks and balsamic jus) is the perfect summer salad – succulent, sweet tomato buffered between crisp basil and pillowy mozzarella. The dark olives and balsamic jus elevate the strong foundation of otherwise simple  ingredients. The Lamb Tagine was a comforting rich lamb stew with gentle, fluffy couscous.

The only blip in the bubble was the outsourced Juice Up juice which smelt and tasted well past its prime. Never ordering those again.

FEELS LIKE

The staff is helpful and prompt.

While Bohemia is quite sweet during the day, by night it develops  that weird club-like vibe every place in GK has and get too crowded to eat or drink.
